Balance

They say there is a strange balance in this world,
A balance between dark and light,
A balance between black and white.
But why doesn’t it look like it?
Why does darkness overpower light?
Why does black outweigh white?
Or is it just the frame of reference?
One’s vantage point?
For someone standing in darkness, even a shaft of light would be a solace, Seemingly the balance keenly presumed as existent,
But for someone standing in the light,
A fleeting stroke of darkness may be harmless, their world as rosy as it could be.
Is the idea of this balance abstract and subjective,
Or just a shared illusion that helps them navigate their enigmatic existence?
